Meet the maker
Leigh-Zanne Marias, the founder of Julee, has always been passionate about art and metal. She pursued a N3 in mechanical engineering and a 3-year Diploma in Jewellery design and manufacturing at Ruth Prowse school of art. These studies helped her develop a deep understanding of how materials work and how to create complex structures. However, her true passion was always in jewellery design.
After completing her studies, Leigh worked as a product designer and developer at CaRRoL BoYeS for 15 years. She honed her skills by working along side Carrol herself who taught her the importance of attention to detail, quality, and customer satisfaction. She developed new products and learned from the best in the industry, becoming an expert in the field of product design and development. Leigh worked with various materials, such as stainless steel, pewter, glassware, ceramics, furniture and aluminum sculpture. She also set trends in the homeware and décor industry in South Africa and abroad.

In 2023, Leigh decided to pursue her dream of starting her own jewellery business.
